California Day 1:Where I Was Staying

For More photos, see my Flickr page.
We flew into San Jose Airport on Tuesday. The weather that greeted us was more like the angry little sister of Seattle. Torrential downpours, with sudden forays into sunshine.

I was staying with my knitting buddy CraftyCoug's grandparents for the duration of the trip, down in the Almaden Valley. OMG people. Rolling *GREEN* Hills! (if you have ever lived in the Bay Area, you know that 8 months out of the year, all the surrounding hills are brown from drought and fire...) Orange trees EVERYWHERE! It was glorious!

We had lunch, which was root beer, grilled cheese sandwiches (with garlic salt. the only way to eat them!), and assorted chips.

We wandered around the garden, took a tour of the house (originally built in 1927. there is a LOT of history there!) Most of the house was built upon, and improved by CraftyCoug's grandfather. He is a rocket scientist (literally) and knows a thing or two about building things to last.

It was a great introduction to my home for the next 7 days. :D
